Overnight Crime Report: Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Two Simple Robberies

The New Orleans Police Department saw four crimes hit the city on Thursday (9.7). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to an armed robbery, a carjacking, and two simple robberies. 


At 10:50AM, an unknown man wearing a mask and gloves entered a Fidelity Homestead Savings Bank on the 3500 block of Gen. De Gaulle Dr. The subject then pulled out a gun and stated “I don’t want to hurt anybody,” before taking an undisclosed amount of money from the teller. He then fled on foot in an unknown direction. 


An employee of a Budget/Avis Rent A Car on the 1300 block of Canal St. was detailing a car at 1:42PM when an unknown man approached. The subject produced a gun that was reportedly wrapped in a shirt, and demanded the vehicle. The employee got out of the car and the perp drove off down Canal toward the lake, then unknown. 


At 9:11PM, an unknown man entered the St. Charles Discount on the 3400 block of St. Charles Ave. He ordered an 18-year-old male employee to activate the pump without payment. When he was refused, the perp sat on the counter and refused to get down. The employee was assisting another customer, at which time the perp reached into the cash register, took cash, then fled in an unknown direction. 


A 52-year-old man invited five unknown men to his residence on the 1900 block of Lapeyrouse St. At 9:49PM, two men remained there. When the man was looking for his keys, one of the remaining men demanded his property. The victim complied, and the duo fled with cash and a cellphone in an unknown direction.
