The New Orleans Police Department saw ten crimes hit the city on Friday (8.25). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to three armed robberies, three stabbings, two shootings, unclassified death, and a rape.
A 41-year-old man was sitting at a bus stop at the intersection of Chef Menteur Hwy. and Desire St. at 6:08AM when a black Nissan Maxima approached. A passenger got out of the car and pointed a gun at the man and demanded his property. The man complied, and the perp fled.
19-year-old Carli Briley was arrested following a cutting incident on the 7000 block of Michigan St. At 12:48PM, Briley was involved in a verbal altercation with a 20-year-old man. At some point during the fight, Briley allegedly armed herself with a weapon. The man sustained a stab wound and was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
25-year-old James Alexander was arrested following a shooting at the intersection of Magazine St. and St. Mary St. At 3:38PM, Alexander and a 24-year-old were involved in a physical altercation when Alexander allegedly pulled out a gun and started shooting at a 20-year-old man. The 20-year-old pulled out a gun and shot back, before they both fled the scene. The 24-year-old man heard the shots and realized he was struck. All three men were brought to the hospital for treatment.
At 3:42PM, a 3-month-old male was found unrepsonsive by his mother on the 600 block of Delery St. He was pronounced on scene.
At 10:16PM, NOPD units arrived to the 2400 block of Athis St. and discovered a 24-year-old man inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. An unknown male was found in the front yard suffering from a gunshot wound. According to the MOL, the incident is under investigation. Both victims were in surgery at the time the report was published.
At 12:25AM, a 42-year-old man got into a verbal altercation that turned physical on the 7900 Earhart Blvd. According to the report, four men attacked the victim, who sustained a stab wound from the incident. He was treated on scene by EMS.
At 1:27AM, a known female was sexually assaulted by a known male at the intersection of Metropolitan St. and Powhatan St.
A 34-year-old man parked his motorcycle on the 2100 block of N. Claiborne Ave. at 2:18AM and was approached by an armed man who demanded he get away from the bike. The man complied, and the perp fled on his motorcycle, an orange 2008 Yamaha R1.
At 3:46AM, an armed man entered the Rouses’s on the 4500 block of Tchoupitoulas St. He forced two employees to the manager’s office and demanded they open the safe. The duo complied, and the perp fled with cash.
An unknown man approached a 53-year-old man at 5:11AM as he exited a store on the 100 block of Carondelet St. The perp tried to grab money from his hands, and a physical altercation ensued at which time the perp stabbed the victim. The victim was brought to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
