Overnight Crime Report: Rape, Death, Armed Robberies, Machete Attack

The Major Offense Log (MOL) for Saturday (4.29) includes a rape, an unclassified death, two armed robberies, and a machete attack on the daily roster of wrongdoing according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

 

At 12:32p.m., a 30-year-old contractor was at work near the corner of Desire Street and North Johnson St. when he noticed two men inside of his tool trailer explained NOPD Aaron Looney. Looney said that when the worker walked over to investigate, one of the intruders pulled out a gun. The two perps then drove off in a light blue Mercury four-door sedan with Mississippi plates (#HGS134) noted authorities.

 

The MOL stated that a 30-year-old man was found dead in his backyard at 1762 North Dorgenois Street by a neighbor. The cause of death was listed as unclassified.

 

At 8:36p.m., an 18-year-old woman was raped by a known perp on the 7800 block of North Coronet Court reported the NOPD.

 

64-year-old Linda Jackson was arrested for Aggravated Battery at 5:50p.m. After an argument with 23-year-old man at 3316 North Galvez Street, she allegedly went to her car to get her machete and then returned with the blade to take a few swings at the man. He received treatment for a cut to his hand.

At 12:40a.m., a 31-year-old driver picked up two men to give them a ride explained Looney. Looney said that one of the passengers put a gun to the driver’s head demanding his valuables, but the driver managed to wrest the weapon away. Police noted that the suspects managed to escape with the driver’s phone and wallet.

 

At 4:14a.m., two men, one armed, walked up to a 29-year-old male victim on the 2000 block of Robert Street and ordered him to empty his pockets and lie on the ground reported the NOPD PIO. Police said that the victim complied and the perps made off with his money and cellphone.
