Overnight Crime Report: Two Sexual Assaults, Three Deaths, Stabbing, Two Muggings, Shooting

The Major Offense Log (MOL) for Thursday (4.28) included two sexual assaults of minors, two unclassified deaths, a homicide, a non fatal shooting, a stabbing, and two armed robberies according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

 

The MOL cited two unclassified deaths. A 46-year-old man was found dead inside a house on the 1800 block of Old Roman Street at 6:41a.m. A 63-year-old man was found dead on the 1300 block of Canal St. at 8:41a.m.

 

Two sexual assaults of minors were also logged. Authorities reported that a 10-year-old child was raped on the 12300 block of N I-10 Service Road at 9:41a.m. At 3:15p.m., officers also responded opened an investigation into the case of a 5-year-old girl who was allegedly molested by a 10-year-old cousin.

 

At 3:48p.m., a 56-year-old man later identified as Anthony Paul, Sr. was found dead in a shed on the 1000 block of Piety Street stated NOPD PIO Juan Barnes. The death was classified as a homicide. Paul was a popular character in the Bywater.

 

On the 8900 block of Gervais Street at 4:15p.m., a 21-year-old man was approached by an unknown perp who pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, and shot the victim twice before running off.

 

Two 19-year-old girls walking on Freret Street near the intersection of Cherokee were robbed at gunpoint at 4:55p.m. logged police.

 

A 59-year-old man was robbed by two mean at the intersection Downman Road and Babylon Street reported Barnes. Barnes said the victim was on his way to a drug deal.

 

A 66-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by a perp known only as “Andrew” when an argument escalated to violence at the corner of Magazine Street and Calliope St. at 2:58a.m.
