Today, the organizers of the Jam Cruise announced the talent for their 15th annual event. The psychedelic ship might as well be called “NOLA Cruise.” Jam Cruise’s 25 act lineup is dominated by nine New Orleans acts, not to mention several special guests and an homage to Mardi Gras music.
Galactic, mainstays of the cruise, will be back this year. The Original Meters are headlining the trip. Plus, locals The Revivalists, Soul Rebels, Frequinox, Earphunk, Cyril Neville, Mike Dillon and DJ Soul Sister will be on the boat. For lagniappe, Widespread’s keyboardist will be bringing JoJo’s Mardi Gras Band onboard.
Fans of the Jazz fest after-hours shows will be familiar with several other acts. Lettuce, Turkuaz, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Benevento Russo Duo, Skerik, and Vulfpeck are all set to sail.
The rest of the roster features moe., GRiZ, Kamasi Washington, The Motet, Beats Antique (Live), Break Science, Dopapod, Percy Hill, The Suffers, Lebo & Friends (feat. Robert Walter, Jay Lane, Garrett Sayers, & Leslie Grant), Neville Jacobs, Electric Beethoven (feat. Jay Lane, Todd Stoops, & Clay Welch), The Brothers Comatose, Magic Gravy, Love Canon, Big Something, Everyone Orchestra, Nathan Moore, and Manic Focus.
Jam Cruise is exactly what the name suggests, an annual gathering of jam bands and their loyal fans aboard the cruise ship Norwegian Pearl. The Pearl leaves Miami on January 20th and returns on January 25th with stops in Ocho Rios Jamaica and Grand Cayman Island.
