The New Orleans Wine & Food Experience (NOWFE) is really kicking it up in 2016. The ever-popular Royal Street Stroll and the GrandTasting will return, but they will be supplemented by an impressive roster of special events ranging from fishing with Donald Link to a Franco-Spanish Hog War.

New World Oysters, Old World Wine (5.27, 12:15-1:15p.m.) – Louisiana Seafood Cook-off and husband and wife team Cody & Samantha Carroll will highlight the modern oyster movement along the Gulf Coast. Master Sommelier Evan Goldstein will be pairing wines to feature the flavors and salinities of the oysters.


Forged Flavors (5.28, 3-4p.m.) – Flavors from Louisiana and the Gulf Coast are rich in many resources used in our local cuisine. Learn how and where Chefs Michael Gulotta, forager and cheese monger Chris Bennet, Link Restaurant Group Ashley Locklear, hunt and gather these indigenous ingredients to Southern Louisiana that are used in our food, beverage, and medicinal cultures. 


Women, Wine, & Wagyu (5.28, 1:45-2:45p.m.) – Chef Sara Toth of Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse showcases the quality Wagyu beef being raised here in Louisiana, courtesy of Raines’ Farms. Master Sommelier Madeline Triffon expertly pairs the big, bold reds from where you would least expect them.


Blind Ambition (5.27, 11a.m.-12p.m.) – Got a great palate? Prove it! Blind-taste both food and wine with Charlier Trotter alum, Laura Martinez, the only blind chef in the country running her own restaurant, La Doisa in Chicago. Watch and learn from this accomplished chef as she takes you on the journey of her incredible senses.


What a Difference the Glass Makes (5.28, 12:30-1:30p.m.) – Put your nose and taste buds to the test with our Riedel Comparative Class Workshop. Experience the impact that the size and shape of a wine glass makes on your favorite vino in a fun, informative tasting hosted by Riedel Representative Chris Hillin. Each guest will receive a set of Riedel Veritas glasses to keep 


Franco-Spanish Hog War (5.28, 4-6p.m.) – Join Hogs for the Cause's Rene Louapre and Andrew Shuford representing the French as they square off against Team Messy Swine’s Josh Hudson, Brad McGehee and Justin Leblanc representing Spain. Hams, Sausages, Roasted Pig, Rosé, Wines, and Ciders are the weapons in this culinary battle.


French Quarter Cellar Strut (5.28, 2-4p.m.) – Sommelier Sara Kavanaugh will lead a lively tour around the French Quarter where you will have an unprecedented look into some of the city's most impressive wine cellars. Sample special selections in the cellars of Antoine's, Brennan's, and Restaurant R'Evolution while a New Orleans history guide shares a commemorative perspective on wine and food in the French Quarter.


Hong Kong Foodie (5.29, 11a.m.-2p.m.) – Accompany award winning Chef Phillip Lopez from Root/Square Root takes you on an off-the-beaten path to the Hong Kong Food Market. Experience the market the way a chef does. Touch, smell and taste new seasonal items and be inspired by what looks interesting that day. Then return to Square Root, where the chefs will transform your edibles into a meal not soon to be forgotten.


Flour Power (5.28, 12-1:30p.m.) – Come experience how the current artisan bakery trend is taking hold in New Orleans with a personal tour of Bellegarde Bakery. Owner Graison Gill, a 2016 Star Chefs Rising Star Award Winner, and Megan Forman share why their breads stand apart from the rest and enjoy delicious samples of their handcrafted breads. French Truck will pour their fresh coffee to top off the Experience.


Members Only (5.29, 1:30-4:30p.m.) – Enjoy the hypnotic sounds of DJ Bryce Nice at this 80’s themed St. Charles Avenue Mansion pool party. Party goers can toast off with Moët & Chandon champagne while enjoying passed hors d'oeuvres and the luxurious pool scene.


Cast Iron Chef (5a.m. pickup, 7p.m. dinner) – Experience the ultimate Sportsman's Paradise excursion that includes fishing on the bayous of Louisiana with Chef Donald Link and Garth Hodgson of Krug Champagne. You will make your way back to Cochon, where your catch of the day will be prepared and cooked for a dinner paired with selections from Krug Champagne. Limited to 10 people.


Midnight Mangia (5.27, 11p.m.-1a.m.) – A festive Italian pop-up party with Chefs Michael Gulotta, Nick Lama and many more. Local chefs' riffs on classic Sicilian street food offerings along with custom cocktails crafted with Italian wine, music, and a bocce ball court.
