On Friday (2.05), the French Quarter lit up with walking parades to usher in the big weekend. First the bustier boud DIVAs took to the streets, and then the men of Hermes enjoyed their annual stroll before their ride. Paulo Steven Diniz braved the packed crowds, packing his camera to record it all.
Divine Protectors of Endangered Pleasures or DIVAs is an all-female walking krewe which easily spotted on account of a preponderance of elaborate bustiers. They begin their day holding court from the balcony of Arnaud's and then pick up some Elvi, some excorts, and the Riverboat Ramblers before making their way through the Quarter.
