Crime Bits: Mischief Night Edition

On Mischief Night (10.30), the boys in blue were forced to respond to several cases of vandalism, but not very much hard crime. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) released Friday’s Major Offense Log (MOL) and there were only three serious offenses logged on the busy night. Mind you, they were Armed Robbery, Aggravated Rape, and Carjacking.

The MOL reported that around 7:44p.m., a 32-year-old woman was exiting her car on the 3700 block of Frenchmen Street when trouble struck. The suspect demanded her key and the victim handed them over noted the report. Unfortunately, the crook couldn’t start the car, so he snatched the victim’s phone as a consolation prize and ran off according to police.

NOPD PIO Hillal Williams stated that an 11-year-old male contacted police complaining that his 16-year-old cousin sexually assaulted him during the summer.

A 62-year-old woman had just finished parking her car in front of 4423 Pauger Street when an unknown man pointed a gun at her and asked for her keys said Williams. The suspect allegedly snatched the keys and then sped off in his new ride.
