Louisiana’s “jungle primary” means that citizens will likely have to wait several months until they know who their next governor is. However, the election finally begins today. For those who don't want to wait until October 24th to cast a ballot, early voting begins today in Orleans Parish. Four locations, including City Hall, are open.
The early ballot is the same as the election day ballot, which includes the gubernatorial race as well as the contests for Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Attorney General. Four constitutional amendments and several local races also provide plenty of opportunity to flip levers. Check out the full ballot for Orleans Parish here.
Voting runs from 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily. Click through for the locations:

• Registrar's Office, Algiers Courthouse, RM 105; 225 Morgan St.
• Voting Machine Warehouse; 8870 Chef Menteur Highway
• Lake Vista Community Center; 6500 Spanish Fort Blvd
Voters must come with their Louisiana Driver’s License, Special ID or other official ID picture when they come to vote early. Those without picture ID may have to provide proof of residency in the form of a bill, and possibly fill out an affidavit. Voting sites are closed on Sundays.
