Ben Roethlisberger has bowed out of the Pro-Bowl. The opening means that the man we call “Breesus” will rise from the offseason to make the roster of a Pro Bowl team for the ninth time.
The selection gives quarterback Drew Brees even more ink in the Saints’ record book. Bree now has made eight Pro Bowl teams as a Saint breaking Hall of Famer Willie Roaf’s record of seven. Additionally, Brees ties Roaf’s other franchise record of seven straight selections.
The 2014 season was disappointing for Who Dats, but Number 9 still managed to record some impressive numbers. In 16 games, he completed 456-of-659 passes (69.2 percent) for 4,952 yards with 33 touchdown passes and a 97.0 passer rating. Bree finished the season ranked first in completions and attempts, tied for first in passing yardage, ranked second in completion percentage, tied for fifth in touchdown passes and ranked sixth in passer rating.
For the fifth time in his career, Brees tied the league lead in passing yards. The feat allows him to share the title for most passing yardage title in league history with Sonny Jurgensen and Dan Marino. The Saints QB is also ranked as the most accurate passer in NFL history.
The Pro Bowl will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona at 5:00p.m. on January 25. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN.
