Zombie Apocalpyse Hits Home?: Bath Salts Cited in Louisiana Face Biting CaseWith Louisiana residents frequently being warned about Bath Salts and zombies, many Pelican State residents have been on edge as it seemed like only a matter of time before the growing zombie apocalypse waded into the Louisiana bayou. The point of entry, it appears, is Lafayette Parish. Carl Jacquneaux, 42, was arrested for allegedly biting a chunk off his ex-wife’s husband’s face on Saturday, June 2, 2012 in Scott City in Lafayette Parish, LA. A friend of the victim told KATC that Jacquneaux had been using bath salts.
The victim, 48-year-old Todd Credeur, was working in his yard in the 500 block of L. Provost Road when Jacquneaux approached him. Then the biting began. A Lafayette Parish sheriff's office spokesman said the bite-wound was “the size of a quarter below the victim’s left eye.” Credeur said he sprayed Jacquneaux in the face with wasp poison in an attempt to stop the attack. According to police, Jacquneaux then relocated to an acquaintance’s house, where he forced his way in, held Billy Louviere at knife-point and threatened, “I will kill you if you don’t tell me where your dad’s gun is,” according to a second police arrest report.
Jacquneaux went into Louviere’s father’s room, took the gun – a Lorcin Model L25 .25 CAL semi-auto handgun – and left. Police later located Jacquneaux at the dead end of Amesbury Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Jacquneaux’s ex-wife, who is married to the bite victim, had a protective order against Jacquneaux, which he violated when he approached the couple’s home. She was present during the incident.
Jacquneaux, was charged with aggravated battery, violating a protective order, and burglary. He is in Lafayette Parish Jail with a $312,500 bond.
Credeur was released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
The attack follows the infamous Miami zombie attack, which was also reportedly fueled by bath salts. Some say the spate of attacks is a sign of a zombie apocalypse. Others just think it's a reason the feds should ban bath salts.
NoDef called the Scott City Sheriff's Office to confirm if Jacquneaux had taken bath salts. The Sheriff’s Office could not say if they conducted a blood test on Jacquneaux because, even if he did bite someone’s face, he has a right to medical privacy. The Sherrif’s Office said a drug test is irrelevant to the requisites in charging Jacquneaux with the crimes that he committed. If he were given a blood test, which the Sheriff’s office would not confirm, it would be only for medical reasons, not for the charges brought against him. |
