The xx Announce Outdoor Fall Concert in New Orleans

When London electro-pop stars The xx first embarked on their lengthy American tour, the Big Easy sadly did not make the cut. On Monday (5.15), the band remedied this with the announcement that they will drop by NOLA for an outdoor concert this fall.

The xx are now scheduled to play Bold Sphere Music concert series at Champions Square on October 19th. The NOLA visit is part of a eight show tour extension, which also includes stops in Miami, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Iceland’s Night + Day Festival.

The xx’s third album, I See You, was released in January through Brit independent record label Young Turks. The album has been nearly universally lauded, debuting at #2 in the U.S. and #1 in the U.K., Australia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, and Portugal.

The xx’s announced appearance at Champions Square is a bit surprising for the band, best known for its minimalist, intimate sound.

Composed of producer/beats man Jamie Smith (aka Jamie XX), guitarist/vocalist Romy Madley Croft, and bass/vocalist Oliver Sim, The xx have gained international fame for singles like “Angels” and “Chained” (both off of their sophomore effort Coexist). “On Hold,” the lead single off I See You, peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 19th at 10AM. Fans can access pre-sale tickets on Tuesday, May 16th at 12PM. To become an official fan, sign up at by 5PM today.
