Watch: Trombone Shorty's Parking Lot Jam Session with 'Simpsons' Director

It’s been almost a week since Jazz Fest ended, but every day we keep finding goodies from the Fair Grounds. A clip that is making it’s rounds on the internet today features New Orleans’ favorite son Trombone Shorty jamming with David Silverman, a writer and animator best known for directing episodes of The Simpsons.

The video was uploaded on April 27th, the kick off day of Jazz Fest, to Facebook. The next day, Shorty released his latest effort with Orleans Avenue, titled Parking Lot Sympathy. Fittingly, the musical collab between Shorty and Silverman occurred in a parking lot. Silverman was on fire (quite literally), stealing the show with his flaming tuba.

Shorty himself is riding high from the release of his newest album Parking Lot Symphony, as well as the successes of the annual Shorty Fest and Treme Threauxdown. On Sunday, he had the prestigious honor of closing out the the fest's biggest platform the Acura Stage for the fifth consecutive year alongside his band Orleans Avenue. The fest is a family tradition of sorts for Shorty, who first played the annual week-long music event at just four years old with his brother James Andrews' self-titled band. His set was true to fashion for the young artist: explosively energetic and utterly cool.
