Vitter to Run for Governor

After taking the holidays to think it over, U.S. Senator David Vitter announced Tuesday that he will to run for governor of Louisiana in 2015. With Bobby Jindal set to time out due to term limits, the Metairie-based Republican throws his hat into the ring of an open race.


Vitter will likely face Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, who is also a Republican. State Treasurer John Kennedy is also said to be mulling a run. But the junior U.S. Senator's decision upends the race because of Vitter's existing influence in the statewide party and ability to raise money. 


On the Dem side, State Sen. John Bel Edwards is already an announced candidate. The Democrats already had ready and waiting.
