Video: FQ Shooting on Decatur, Gunman Still at LargeIn an incident that could rival last week's contraband catalogue for most absurd crime, a man was shot in the buttocks at 2:15am on the corner of Decatur and Bienville. The French Quarter intersection is well lit and busy into the wee hours of the morning, but the gunman and a person of interest managed to escape the scene and are still at large.
According to police reports, the victim’s family member was initially involved in a fight nearby club. When the victim left the club and began walking down Bienville towards the river, one of the subjects engaged in the altercation redirected his attention, firing multiple shots in the direction of the victim. Eventually, the shooter landed a bullet in the victim’s buttocks. Fortunately, the victim’s wounds are not life threatening.
Anyone able to point law enforcement officials in the right direction regarding the shooter’s whereabouts or identity can call Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111. They’re offering up to a $2500 reward for information that could lead to his arrest. Detective Michael Flores is leading the investigation, and can be reached at 504-658-6707.
Witnesses reported the gunman to be a black male with a slim build standing at approximately five feet, nine inches tall. The suspect allegedly has a medium complexion, and was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.
Below, see surveillance of the gunman and a person of interest leaving the scene.
