Uptown Can Crawl Offers First Crack at Abita in Aluminum

Sadly, Abita's Carnival-ready canned beer won't be released widely in time for Saturday's profane procession through the Marigny and French Quarter. However, the north shore brewery is giving New Orleanians a taste of the canned version of its iconic brew this week. Abita is planning a pub crawl Friday that starts at the Magazine Street Bulldog for canned Amber, moves to Balcony Bar for Jockamo IPA and finally to the rendevous for Purple Haze.

Since it will be happy hour, there's a special. Cans are going for $2 during the crawl.

The three varieties of Abita will be available in aluminum in time for the other parades, as the brewery plans to unleash the cans Monday. The brewery has a lot of environmental and beer-oriented reasons for going with cans as well. But, really, let's just get them out on the parade route!
