The Unicorn has Landed! DJ ReUnited With Mythical Pet!

By Christopher Herbeck

Ladies and Gentleman, NOLA Defender is pleased to report that we have a happy ending to a story previously covered on this publication. The case of the missing unicorn has been solved! Well, kind of…

For those unfamiliar with the original story, DJ Unicorn Fukr’s companion and sidekick, a large plush toy unicorn, was kidnapped at The Maison during a party last May.  While it was uncertain who was responsible for the abduction of the unicorn, the DJ and his friends launched a poster campaign and created a Facebook page in hopes of retrieving the beloved beast. Despite these efforts nobody could identify the perpetrators. Four months went by with no sign of the lost creature.

Then one night at the Rubyfruit Jungle, Dj Unicorn Fukr found himself in New Orleans for Kompression, a monthly party thrown by local DJ group Kinetic Nola. While Unicorn Fukr was partaking in pre-DJ set drinking rituals, a large plastic object was handed to him at the bar; it was a black garbage bag containing his long lost unicorn.

Elated by the Unicorn’s return, the DJ had this to say:

“I'm very delighted the unicorn has been returned. Looks like I can quit that nasty heroin addiction I had picked up in order to properly mourn her loss. I would normally give a long drawn out and emotional speech with tales of dark times, sleepless nights and random acts of verbal (and grammatical) abuse and how at the moment when it seemed all hope was lost, my life was suddenly filled with sunshine and rainbows... but I'm off to do unmentionable things to make up for lost time. If you too would like to do unmentionable things, the unicorn will be in attendance at the next Kompression on August 28 at Rubyfruit Jungle.”

At this point the whereabouts of the unicorn while it was missing and the identities of the unicorn kidnappers remain unknown. It has been confirmed that sometime within the past few months, the person responsible for the unicorn’s re-appearance saw a Where’s the Unicorn? poster hanging on the door of the Rubyfruit Jungle. A “no questions asked” agreement was made in exchange for the animal’s safe return. Any details leading to the identity of the unicorn abductors are yet to be disclosed. Although the return of the unicorn is as wrapped in mystery as the original kidnapping, we are still happy that it has been returned to its rightful owner. This joyous, yet explicit, reunion was well documented and posted on the Where’s the Unicorn? Facebook page.
