Tropical Update: Erin Dies, Clear Skies

The two tropical systems that gave us a scare last week have dissipated entirely, according to the National Hurricane Center. Erin grew from a depression to a weak tropical storm, only to drop back into her sad state and eventually fall out entirely. The low-pressure system that lurked in the Caribbean has also thrown in the towel.

There are no tropical storms on the horizon, and no tropical cyclones expected to form within the next five days, according to the forecast. As of 7a.m. New Orleans time, The North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico are all clear.

On Thursday, the disturbance was expected to pass over Mexico and Belize before possibly venturing into the Gulf. With fickle Erin and her unnamed friend threatening to make an impromptu visit, the Fair Grounds evacuated their barns. However, the horses can feel safe again, at least for a few days.
