Top Chef NOLA's Winning Dish on Menu at Emeril's Restos


If you have not been keeping up with Top Chef NOLA, then Emeril’s restaurants have a spoiler on the menu. The winning dish from the final episode is on the menu at all of Emeril Lagasse’s New Orleans locations through February 23. 

 

Shirley Chung’s West Lake Drum with Asian meuniere sauce, braised celery, and shiitake mushrooms is the menu item of the month at all three locations. 

 

Chris Wilson, Director of Culinary for Emeril's Restaurants, said that Shirley's dish successfully fused New Orleans flavors with Asian influences. 

 

"I like the way Shirley combined the flavors of her roots with New Orleans ingredients to achieve a perfect balance of the two. I like that the dish is clean and light, but the flavors aren't so subtle that it leaves you looking for more," said Wilson. 

 

The final regular episode of season 11 put Carlos, Nick, Nina and Shirley at odds. A judge on the show, Emeril decided that the winning dish from the episode would become part of his menu at all three of his local restaurants. 

 

Tom Colicchio, Emeril Lagasse, and Gail Simmons judged the dishes, along with some Top Chef Masters who won previous seasons.

 

Carlos was told to pack up and leave, putting Nina, Nick and Elimination Challenge winner Shirley in the finale, which was filmed in Maui. The next episode will air on January 29, at 9 p.m..

 

Guests can order the prize grabbing grub at Emeril’s (800 Tchoupitoulas), Delmonico (1300 St. Charles), and NOLA Restaurant (534 St. Louis). The entrée is $30.

 

Being a New Orleans restaurateur, Lagasse had to throw a drink special in the mix. Another featured item to sip is the NOLA Quickfire cocktail made with Sazerac rye, triple sec, Peychaud’s bitters, as well as fresh lemon and grapefruit juice. The cocktail is $9.
