Today's Events: 1.12.12

Today, Shotgun Willie himself wanders into the House of Blues, The NOLA Project launches a new play at Allways Lounge and a strip club pops up in the Marigny. Happy Birthday to trumpeter James Andrews. The Satchmo of the Ghetto is 43 years young today, and we also mark the day that Super Bowl IX was held at Tulane Stadium. The Grambling State March Band played the halftime show. Now that's entertainment. Check out some more:

8:00 PM Willie Nelson - He's been simultaneously grounded with the common man and high as a kite for years now, but Willie Nelson is still kicking. Coming back yet again after his border bust in 2010, Nelson and his shorter locks will be in the Quarter tonight to stop your blues from crying in the rain. (House of Blues)

8:00 PM A Behanding in Spokane - The NOLA Project takes on Martin McDonagh's play about a man who has been without a hand for 27 years and his quest to get it back. The production runs for two weeks only, and features A.J. Allegra, John Grimsley, Natalie Boyd and James Bartelle. (Allways Lounge)

8:30 PM The Music Series at Bellocq - Zack Glass brings his mix of brazillian, reggae and blues to the Hotel Modern's newly-opened watering hole. This is the first performance in a music series that will include Martha Wainwright, The Two and others (Bellocq)

9:00 PM Big Dick's House of Boobs - Always wanted to be a stripper? Work as a stripper at a spot that's too expensive for the rest of us? Come out to Port Street tonight for Big Dick's House of Boobs, as the normally placid Mudlark Theatre will become a seedy strip club complete with lap dance jams, and a peep show booth to boot(y). (Mudlark Publick Theatre)
