Today's Events: 1.10.12

On this day in Bayou State history, U.S. Federal troops ended the 1811 Louisiana Slave Revolt. 56 African Americans were killed, with their heads displayed on pikes for extra intimdation. Tonight, Bill and Turner Ross  talk their new film and Wasted Lives play at Allways Lounge. But once, Thomas Paine published Common Sense (1776), John D. Rockefeller incorporated Standard Oil (1870), ‘Masterpiece Theatre premiered on PBS (1971), Time Warner was formed (1990), Pat Benetar was born (1953), and Howlin Wolf died (1976).

5:30PM: Bill and Turner Ross- Come meet the local award winning filmmakers who turned heads for their first feature. 45365 at the 2009 SWSW festival in Austin. Tonight, Bill and Turner Ross meet and greet at the Weinmann Auditorium in old Metairie, and present scenes from their newest Tchoupitoulas (Metairie Park Country Day School)

10:00PM: Wasted Lives- For a bar that loves to square dance, honky tonking Wasted Lives should feel right at home performing at Allways Lounge. If you love Hank Williams and Loretta Lynn, you love locals Wasted Lives, who appear this evening for three sets of mid twentieth century rowdiness (Allways Lounge)
