On August 13, 1947, Louis Armstrong and his All Stars Band officially debuted in Los Angeles, at Billy Berg’s Night Club. Tonight in the Louisiana music scene, Kermit Ruffins, Papa Grows Funk, and Charmaine Neville are populating their usual venues. Early in the evening, acclaimed author Kiini Ibura Salaam will be uptown at Octavia Books, reading passages from and signing her new collection, Ancient Ancient. Met-heads can check out Abigail Williams at the Hi-Ho with some Monday night red beans, and the Allways will be hosting The Salt Wives, a Klezmer trio.

The Allways Lounge brings Klezmer and Balkan music with this Vermont-based trio, consisting of a violin, accordion, and euphonium player.
