Happy Birthday, Ivan Neville! The Neville brother behind Dumpstaphunk was born on August 19, 1959, and he turns 53 years old today. Also going on in New Orleans music, Tip’s brings their weekly Cajun Fais Do Do with Bruce Daigrepont, and there’s bass worship and brass bands downtown. New this Sunday is Irvin Mayfield’s Love Sessions, and he’ll be battling Kermit Ruffins tonight to raise money to fight homelessness with UNITY New Orleans.

 

Cajus Fais Do Do (Tipitina’s, 5:30pm)

Come out and dance with Bruce Daigrepont and his band. Every Sunday, Tip’s brings traditional Cajun music to Tchoupitoulas.

 

Love Sessions (Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, 8pm)

Come out to hear some of the best music in the city while you fight homelessness at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse. Tonight, Ruffins and Mayfield are battling for UNITY New Orleans, and admission is $22.  

 

Bass Church (Dragon’s Den, 10pm)

 

Goth-Trad, Greenleaf, Innerlign, Unicorn Fukr, and Mr. Cool Bad Guy perform tonight at the Dragon’s Den. Come out and get spiritual for the venue’s weekly Dubstep performances. Cover is $10.

 

Hot 8 Brass Band (Howlin’ Wolf, 8pm)

 

One of New Orleans’ favorite brass bands is back again tonight at the Howlin’ Wolf for their weekly gig. Cover is $10.
