Today in NOLA 9.20.17

Today in NOLA, learn what City Council candidates think about energy issues. Esoterotica returns to the St. Claude drag, while Rosalie Apothecary hosts a ladies-only circle to celebrate the beginning of fall. Support our neighbors in Houston recover from Hurricane Harvey with a benefit concert at Cafe Istanbul. On this day in Louisiana history, piano pioneer Eddie Bo was born in 1929. Now, more to do today.

City Council Energy Forum (New Orleans Public Library, 6PM)

Do you wonder about New Orleans' sustainable future? Join the Alliance for Affordable Energy for a forum to learn what top City Council candidates will advocate for in energy-related policy work. The panel will feature confirmed appearances by candidates from each district. Free and open to the public.

From NOLA With Love (Cafe Istanbul, 6PM)

New Orleanians know how to band together in the face of tragedy. Tonight, raise funds for Houston with part one of a two-part musical benefit (stay tuned for part two in October). The lineup rivals any major festival in the city, featuring the Dirty Rain Revelers, Sam Price and the True Believers, Los Poboycitos, Smoke n Bones, Margie Perez, Brent Johnson and the Call Up feat. Alvin Youngblood Hart, One Love Brass Band, Tom Worrell, and The Tin Men.

Esoterotica (AllWays Lounge, 7PM)

It is the second September installment of this recurring sapiosexual meeting of the minds. Tonight will feature erotic collabs from a variety of writers, poets, and sensually-minded performers. Esoterotica will also host a benefit for those affected by Hurricane Irene, in the form of used books, CDs, DVDs, and more for sale.

New Moon Women's Circle (Rosalie Apothecary, 7PM)

Spiritually-minded ladies (all female gender/queer/trans-identified people) are invited to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox at Rosalie's regular New Moon Circle. Bring a tea cup, paper and pen, and tarot deck if you so choose to draw intentions, meditate, and open hearts ahead of the fall season.
