Bonne Fête Nationale! Get your Bastille Day on in any way you know how, from a block party, to an art tour and more. Enjoy a Summer Night at Southport, get your creepiest gear out for Creepy Fest 2017, or take in the blissfully dynamic sounds of Caddywhompus. On this day in 1810, Edward Henry Durrell was born. He would later go on to be the 25th mayor of New Orleans.

Bastille Day Fête (NOMA, 6PM)

Named one of the best Bastille Day celebrations in the country, this annual party celebrates the French connection in La Nouvelle-Orléans. Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille fortress prison in Paris, on July 14, 1789, an event that ignited the French Revolution. Activities at NOMA include art tours, cooking demos, musical entertainment, and much more, along with the countless other celebrations happening around the city!

A Summer Night at Southport (Southport Music Hall, 7PM)

We hope you saved the date for this very special fundraiser. The 10th Annual Akula Foundation Fundraiser will be going down New Orleans style with A Summer Night at Southport. Enjoy an evening of music by U4ria, as well as a silent auction, wonderful New Orleans foods, and an open bar.

Creepy Fest 2017 (Siberia, 10PM)

Presented by Sheer Terror Records, the 9th Annual Creepy Fest New Orleans is sure to get you feeling spooky this summer. The festival spans four nights at various clubs and venues around the city, featuring both local and visting bands, film screenings, and so much more.

Caddywhompus (One Eyed Jack’s, 9PM)

The New Orleans-based duo behind Caddywhompus have been described as having a range that varies from “hectic noise rock to jangling ambiance to arena riffage” by Pitchfork. But those who know them and have followed them fall in love. The group is celebrating the recent release of this third album earlier this year, so be prepared to hear some fun new material from the boys. Support by AF THE NAYSAYER and Sharks Teeth.
