Today in NOLA 6.18.17

Happy Father’s Day! Start your day by taking in a matinee screening of an Old Hollywood classic, or get your feet stomping and cravings sated at a gospel brunch in the Quarter. Later on this Sunday, get wavy at the Drifter Hotel or get out your favorite board game for a night of turn based fun. On this day in 1939, Pontchartrain Beach amusement park was opened by Harry J. Batt Sr. (yes, he's related to the actor and Magazine St. shop owner Bryan Batt). Now, read on for more of today's happenings.

Gospel Brunch (House of Blues, 10AM)

This world famous event is known as being one of the best brunches in the city, and they aren’t wrong! The spectacular showcase explores local talent performing both traditional and contemporary Gospel songs, and includes a buffet with carving stations, southern specialties, and much more.

The Lady Eve (Prytania Theatre, 10AM)

Visit the century-old theatre the Prytania for a matinee screening of screwball classic, The Lady Eve. Starring Barbara Stanwyck as a beautiful con artist with designs on the fortune of a socially awkward millionaire, played by Henry Fonda.

Adrift with The Cabana Queens (The Drifter Hotel, 12PM)

Do you find yourself longing for the analogue simplicity of the 90’s? Well, the Drifter Hotel may not be an actual time machine but today, it might as well be. New Orleans' hottest pool party will be busting out your favorite 90s hits as well as some b-sides you likely haven’t heard in decades. Food, drinks, and BYOD (Bring your own Daddy, of any kind) for half price admission.

Board Game Night (Tubby & Coo’s, 6PM)

Grab whatever board games suits your interest and head over to Tubby and Coo's for some great company. They also have an opening gaming library with over 150 board games. Make some new friends, or challenge some old ones to a rematch.
