This Friday, kick your adventures this weekend off with some brand new tunes, a journey through chamber opera, some sweet Egyptian Lover, or a celebration of 25 great years of NOLA sounds. Emmett Louis Hardy died this day in June in 1925 shortly after his 22nd birthday. He was a early jazz cornet player and one of the best-regarded New Orleans musicians of his generation. Release Party (Sidney’s Saloon, 7PM)

To start you weekend off right are a couple new releases from some interesting corners of the music scene here. First we have Rudy Stone presenting his first full length album, “The Blinking Light/Peace on Earth” as well as Dusty Tupelo with his single release “Houston, TX” as well the Shame’s EP release. 


Across the Americas (Marigny Opera House, 8PM)

The New Orleans Chamber Orchestra closes its 2017 season with a performance that showcases music by both South and North American composers entitled “Across The Americas.”


Egyptian Lover (Castillo Blanco Art Studios, 9PM)

As one of the most innovative producers of the old-school electro era, Egyptian Lover's Greg Broussard recorded a parade of singles during the mid-'80s have proved influential for decades. Now, the party’s being brought to New Orleans with plenty of special local guests ft. Father Figure, Bouffant Bouffant, and more.


25th Anniversary Show (Mid-City Lanes, 9:45PM)

The Bucktown All-Stars are all grown up and still ready as ever to party. To celebrate a quarter century, get ready for a quick and rowdy trip down memory lane and relive early setlists, address urban legends and Bucktown mythology, and see some very special guests come to jam.
