Today in NOLA 6.15.17

This Thursday, explore new works at the Ogden or celebrate the variety entertainment industry with the Snake Oil Fest. Jonathan Boogie Long, one of Big Easy's best, will be playing Tip's. And thinking of missing the W's screening of Pretty Woman? Big mistake, huge. According to official New Orleans vital records, a certain Marie Glapion Laveau died on this day in 1881, aged 98. However, the mystery of the true outcome of the powerful voodoodienne, Marie Laveau, lives on…

Ogden After Hours (Ogden Museum, 6PM)

For this very special edition of Ogden After Hours, the museum will be presenting the opening of its two newest photography exhibits "The Colourful South: William Christenberry, Birney Imes, William Greiner, William Ferris and Alec Soth" and "William Eggleston: Troubled Waters (from the collection of William Greiner)" The event will also feature the musical talents of Andre Bohren.

Dive In Movie Night (W New Orleans, 6:30PM)

The W Hotel in the French Quarter is blending some pretty great summertime activities: outdoor movie screenings and boozing it up poolside. Their summer programming series is an ode to Julie Roberts (who's turning 50 this year, just FYI), with Notting Hill and My Best Friend's Wedding on the lineup for the rest of the season. Tonight, the classic rom-com Pretty Woman will be screened. Specialty theme cocktails, complimentary popcorn, and some snacks will also be offered.

Snake Oil Festival (Howlin Wolf, 9PM)

The third annual Snake Oil Festival will be takin’ over the Howlin Wolf with their efforts to conserve the art and spirit of America’s rich burlesque, sideshow and variety entertainment history. Starring:  Kitten de Ville, Val Valentine, GoGo McGregor, Corey Mack, James Taylor, Angela Eve, Lydia Treats, Ben Wisdom, Little Luna and many more!

Jonathon Boogie Long (Tipitina's, 9PM)

Hailing from Baton Rouge, this is a man whose said to have the blues coursing through this veins. He's owned the Jazz Fest stage in the past, and with 'boogie' in his name, we challenge you to not get down at his powerhouse performance.
