Defender Picks

Today in NOLA 4.2.17

Today, raise funds for a good cause by cuddling baby farm animals (we know, the sacrifices that one makes in life). Boogie and the Brow aim to dominate the Chicago Bulls. Pagoda Cafe offers a night of pho and DJ music, while Le Petit Théâtre hosts a night of improv-scripted comedy theatre. On this day in 1880, the Louisiana Western Railroad brought the first produce ever delivered by rail to Lake Charles. Now, more lazy Sunday happenings.

Baby Animal Day (Sugar Roots Farm, 11AM)

The folks from Sugar Roots Farm open their gates for the sweetest fundraiser in town. Cuddle piglets, bunnies, ducklings, and goat kids. Or bring the whole family for pony rides and face painting. Drinks and snacks will also be on hand. It is $5 for entry and each activity, and the funds raised will go toward helping the Sugar Roots team to purchase a much needed tractor.

Pelicans vs. Chicago Bulls (Smoothie King Center, 5PM)

After a rocky adjustment period, the fire & ice duo of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins has helped the Pelicans take flight in the later portion of their season. Following the 117-89 victory over the Sacramento Kings this weekend, the Birds are looking to take down the Bulls.

Pagoda Pho Night (Pagoda Cafe, 6PM)

Pagoda’s well-known Sunday night curry series takes a hiatus this week for some fresh pho. Chef To Le Thi will be serving up raw beef pho, vegetarian pho, Vietnamese chicken wings, veggie springs rolls, and more. Prince Pauper and DJ Noel from Domino Sound will be providing the soundtrack.

You Don't Know the Half of It (Le Petit Théâtre Du Vieux Carré, 7:30PM)

The historic Le Petit Theatre plays host to a half-improvised/half-scripted comedy show. Tonight's show will toast to the calm before the festival storm in New Orleans. As always, the group’s You Don’t Know the Band will be playing some sweet tunes.
