Today in NOLA 4.18.17
Today, House of Blues highlights the top teen talent around town. Tasche and the Psychedelic Rose celebrate their album release, while the Ogden teams up with Oxalis Apothecary for a perfume tutorial. Dead Heads can enjoy Bob Weir when he takes the Saenger stage. Stick around after the show for local faves Honey Island Swamp Band. On this day in 1924, late blues artist Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown was born in Vinton, Louisiana. Now, more to do this Tuesday.
Bringin' Down the House (House of Blues, 6PM)
NOLA’s top teen talent take the HOB stage in a free showcase of emerging musicians. Kodie Treaudo, Marigny Hemenway, ANSWRS, One Lan Band, Kirsten Theodore, Baleeve, and Ahmir Trotter will be featured tonight.
Craft Happy Hour (Ogden Museum, 6PM)
Erin Wexstten of Oxalis Apothecary will lead a workshop at the Ogden tonight on custom perfume oil blending. Each participant will end the two-hour class with a personal (and personalized) roll-on perfume.
Bob Weir (Saenger Theatre, 7PM)
Bob Weir has had a storied career in music — from his beginnings as founding member of the Grateful Dead, to his current Dead & Company rock out, to his most recent solo record in a decade, “Blue Mountain.” Check out the documentary of his life, “The Other One: The Long, Strange Trip of Bob Weir” — now on Netflix. Honey Island Swamp Band will play a free show after Weir’s set at 11PM.
Tasche and the Psychedelic Roses (One Eyed Jacks, 8PM)
One Eyed Jacks hosts Tasche and the Psychedelic Roses for a show and album release. The band most recent effort “Gold Rose” will be celebrated, with performances by Delish Da Goddess, Gland and the Tumbling Wheels.
