Today in New Orleans 5.21.14

Hump day serves up festivities in Lafayette Square, and the NOLA Country Club offers half-off relaxation for service industry members. Banks street divvies out BLTs with Major Bacon, and Candlelight hosts a performance from Treme. On this day in 1958, segregation of the New Orleans Street Cars ended. Now, check out Wednesdays offerings.

Wednesday at the Square  (Lafayette Square, 5 p.m.)

The weekly hump day spring concert will feature music from Dave Jordan and his band the Neighborhood Improvement Association. Jordan and NIA will serve up gritty NOLA funk blended with raw acoustic rock and country. Jacob Landry and The Right Lane Bandits will perform original and cover songs. Local food and beverages available.

Major Bacon (Banks Street Bar, 10 p.m.)

Patrons can enjoy blues beats from the Grammy nominated rock band as well as FREE BLT’s. The trio captures audiences’ attention with solid guitar solos and well-crafted rhythms. This is a no-cover event.
