Today New Orleans 12.2.13

Who Dat! The Saints are in Seattle tonight for their game against the Seahawks. Christmas New Orleans Style continues at St. Louis Cathedral, and Planned Parenthood is screening "Deep South" at Cafe Istanbul in recognition of World AIDS Day. Happy Birthday to Britney Spears, the Louisiana pop princess and native of Kentwood. Spears turns 32 today. Now, more to do this Monday. 


Deep South Screening (Café Istanbul, 6 p.m.)

In honor of World AIDS Day (December 1), Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is screening this documentary about the rural American South. The partnership between a number of local non profits will begin with a reception and end with a panel. Women With A Vision founder Deon Haywood will sit on the panel following the screening. Jason Marsalis will perform following the discussion portion of the night. 


Saints vs. Seahawks (Century Field, 7:30 p.m., ESPN)

The Saints are taking on the Seahawks (10-1) tonight in Seattle. The Black and Gold will square off against Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch, and Rob Ryan said the game will be “one hell of a challenge.” Who Dats tune and and cheer from afar for the game that could leave the Saints 10-2.


Opera Creole (St. Louis Cathedral, 6 p.m.)

The concerts continue tonight in Jackson Square. Christmas New Orleans Style presents this year’s series, with New Orleans greats like Davell Crawford, the Roots of Music, Amanda Shaw, and many more on the lineup for this year.


Magnetic Ear (Gasa Gasa, 8 p.m.)

The local pocket brass band consists of Martin Krusche on tenor sax, Dan Oestreicher on baritone sax, Wes Anderson on trombone, Michael Watson on trombone, Jason Jurzak on the sousaphone, and regular Gasa Gasa performer Paul Thibodeaux on the drums. In addition to New Orleans brass band funk, the band is also inspired by Eastern European and African music.
