Today, the slow food movement comes to New Orleans with music in tow, poet Sharon Olds reads at Tulane and All-American Rejects sneak onto the Mahalia Jackson Theatre stage. On this day in Louisiana history, Spain returned the Louisiana territory to France (1800), R&B legend Willie Egan was born in Minden (1933) and Cajun music master Marc Savoy was born in Eunice (1940). Slow Food NOLA Supper Bowl (Rock n Bowl, 6:00 PM) The national slow food movement is opening up shop here in Louisiana. This NOLA chapter is partnering with the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Fund to promote ways for all to access good, clean, healthy food. Tonight, the NOLA Slow Food movement provides eats, and the musicians provide the entertainment at Rock n Bowl. It's all free!

Sharon Olds  (Tulane U - Freeman Auditorium 8:00 PM) The award-winning poet Sharon Olds is the 2012 Arons Visiting Poet at Tulane. With nine volumes of verse under her belt, Olds brings a seasoned, contemporary style to the page. Plus, she helped to found a 900-bed hospital for the severely disabled.
