Today: Major Music Lineups Continue in New Orleans


Today, the great music offerings continues, even though the Fair Grounds gates aren't open. Dirty Dozen and Rebirth Brass bands play with many others at the Louisiana Music Factory, Brian Stoltz plays on Frenchman, and Dragon Smoke play One Eyed Jacks. This day in history, David Farragut formally captured New Orleans during the Civil War (1862), and Ft. Maurepas was completed (1699).

 

Louisiana Music Factory Jazz Fest Instore Performances- (Louisiana Music Factory, Noon) Today, come out and catch Gina Forsyth, The Iguanas, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, The Revivalists, Camile Baudoin and The Living Rumors, and Hurray For The Riff Raff, all for free!

 

Brian Stoltz- (dba, 10 p.m.) Self proclaimed singer, songwriter, and guitarist extraordinaire comes to Frenchman for the night.

 

Dragon Smoke- (One Eyed Jacks, 9 p.m.) Ivan Neville, Eric Lindell, Stanton Moore & Robert Mercurio team up once more to rock out at One Eyed Jacks tonight as Dragon Smoke.

 

 

Ernie K-Doe Tribue Palm Court Jazz Cafe (7:30 PM) - Marcia Ball, Ernie Vincent and many more genuflect before the Emporer of the Unvierse in honor of a new biography about the legend himself.

 

Toubab Krewe, Freek Bass (The Maison, 10:00 PM) Asheville's blenders of Mali music and Southern folk start up a two-night stand on Frenchmen, supported by Freek Bass, Nigel Hall and Nikki Glaspie.

 

 

Dave Malone, New Orleans Suspects, Camile Baudoin & the Living Rumors Howlin' Wolf (10:00 PM) Fest by night continues with the Radiators frontman, and two of New Orleans better up-and-comers.

 

 

DJ Soul Sister's Esperanza Spalding Listening Party & Happy Hour d.b.a. (5:30 PM) Get ready for one of the highlights of Thursday's Jazzfest cubes - Grammy winner and bassist extraordinaire Esperanza Spalding - with the Soul Sister on Frenchmen! Spalding will not be there physically, but her presence will be there on the speakers! One of New Orleans' favorite DJs will be spinning Spalding and rare groove tonight until 7:30. No cover!
