Tonight, fashion week struts on at the Saratoga, Alison Bechdel is speaking at Tulane, Wednesday at the Square kicks off with Anders Osborne, and more. On this date in 1867, General Philip Sheridan arrived in New Orleans to command Louisiana and Texas during Reconstruction. Now, more hump day happenings.



An Evening with Alison Bechdel (Tulane, 7pm)


The syndicated cartoonist became famous for her feminist comic strip, Dykes to Watch Out For, the publication responsible for the Bechdel test. Come hear Bechdel’s thoughts on her work and process, and get her take on race, gender, and sexuality.


Wed. at the Square-Anders Osborne (Lafayette Square, 5pm-8pm)


Come hear great music for free today for this season’s first Wednesday at the Square concert. They’re starting big with Osborne and the Colin Lake Band. Get some grub or have a beer to support the City’s Young Leadership Council.


NOLA Fashion Week: Anthony Ryan, Hazel and Florange, Matthew Arthur, The Dope Game (The Saratoga, 6pm-10pm)


Enjoy music from DJ Neighborhood Threat and see some hot new trends strut down the runway. Designers from near and afar are showcasing their winter collections, tickets for each show are $25. 


Salt Wives, $5 Martinis, Free Snacks (Allways Lounge, 9pm-11pm)


The show doesn’t start until 10pm, but arrive early and enjoy some cheap martinis and free grub. Then, enjoy some local Klezmer, polka, and more.


Public Meeting: Streetcar Expansion (Hyatt French Quarter, 6pm-8pm)


Got something to say about the RTA?  The streetcar tracks will eventually extend down Elysian Fields, and tonight is your opportunity to voice concerns about the project’s schedule, track alignment for the new 1.2 miles, the locations of stops, and designs for shelters.
