Today in New Orleans 4.16.13

This morning, head to the Riverbend and make groceries at this week’s farmers market. Tonight, theater, live music, movie screenings, and more. New Orleans was officially founded on April 16, 1718. Now, more to do this Tuesday.

Five Heartbeats Screening (Antenna Gallery, 7pm)

Come out and see a free screening of this feature length drama, presented by DJ Soul Sister’s Musically Speaking Series. The film follows a fictional music group, loosely based off of the stories of the Four Tops, the Temptations, the Dells, and other similar ensembles.

Almost, Maine (Tulane’s Lupin Theater, 8pm-10pm)

The small town of Almost, Maine, possesses many stories. This play is broken into nine vignettes that explore concepts of love and loss. Tickets are $12, $8 for students and seniors.

Zephyrs vs. Memphis Redbirds: Triple Play Taco Tuesday (Zephyr Field, 7pm)

They’ve started off the season well, so come cheer on your home baseball team tonight, and get an upper deck ticket, taco, and soft drink for just $10. The team played their first game 20 years ago today in Privateer Park.

Crescent City Farmer's Market (Uptown Market, 9am-1pm)

All morning, shop for the freshest local groceries and enjoy pre made treats from local chefs and grocers. Find everything from poultry, to satsumas, to gourmet fruit bars, and more at the Riverbend.

Rebirth Brass Band (Maple Leaf, 10pm)

Oak Street boasts a few famous local businesses, including one of the best places uptown to see live music. Tonight, see not one but two sets from the Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Ban
