Times Grill Fundraiser for Wounded Officer

Thursday, grab a burger at Times Grill (1827 Front Street) in Slidell, and help a wounded NOPD Officer through his recovery. On the morning of February 23, NOPD Officer John Passaro was shot responding to an armed robbery on Poland and St. Claude. The wounded Officer has a difficult road ahead, and friends and family are asking the Greater New Orleans community to show their support.

Friend of Passaro and event organizer Scott Kervin said the Officer’s family is facing a mountain of medical bills and a long rehabilitative process. “A terrible thing happened to a good person,” said Kervin. "It’s going to be a long road.” Despite the traumatic incident, Kelvin said “His spirits are really good.”

There will be a live auction, and Kervin said items up for bidding range from jewelry, to artwork, to sports memorabilia. Stephen Rue of “Rouxster Art” and Adam Sambola have donated some of their paintings. There is also jewelry up for grabs, including a diamond cross necklace.

“It’s anything you could think of,” said Kervin. “There’s a lot of art and a lot of sports [memorabilia].”

100 percent of all proceeds from the live auction and 20 percent of all food sales from 5-9pm will go towards Passaro and his family. “It’s amazing all the support we’ve gotten from the community,” said Kervin.

If you aren’t able to make it out Thursday, March 14, but still want to show your support, make a donation to the Passaro’s at any Whitney Bank.
