Sheriff's Office Looking to Round Up Teen Who Took off Ankle Monitor

For the second time in two weeks, authorities are looking for a man who sprung from house arrest. Early Thursday morning, an unidentified 15-year-old teen escaped house arrest  after taking off his court-issued ankle monitor less than 24 hours after being issued the device, according to Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman's office. The 15-year-old tampered with the bracelet and took it off at about 1:30 a.m., according to a statement from Gusman's office.

The Sheriff's office was notified that the monitor had been tampered with, and a deputy was dispatched. But the teen was already gone by the time police showed up.

The teen was under house arrest after being charged with criminal damage to property and trespassing. The sheriff's office said they obtained an arrest warrant, and he will be booked into NOPD's Juvenile Processing Center when captured.

This latest bracelet bustout comes as the Sheriff's ankly monitoring program has been experiencing issues. On Oct. 17, Henry Brooks sprung from house arrest, and was caught the next day. Earlier in October, another unidentified teen's bracelet malfunctioned on the same night he committed a carjacking in Uptown New Orleans.
