Spike Lee Issues New Orleans Casting Call for 'Oldboy' Remake

Spike Lee still wants to hang out with us. The famed Writer/Director is shooting a remake of the Korean cult lassic "OldBoy" in New Orleans and production begins on October 1st. Lee encourages background actors of all ages and enthnicites to drop off a photo at the two day casting call that ends today, Sept 21st, at 7pm. Stop by the Ashe Cultural Center, 1724 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd if you're interested.

 

Specifically being sought are:

 

  • Young people between 15 and 21 years old to play  prep school students. Girls are encouraged to wear a simple blouse, blazer and simple jewelry such as pearls and small hoop earrings. Boys should wear a white or blue button-down shirt, a dark tie and blazer.
  • White-collar business types, wearing hair styles and clothes of the early 1990s.
  • Upscale "uptowner" types, wearing hair styles and clothes of the early 1990s.
  • Fitness instructors, specifically for yoga, aerobics and kickboxers.
  • Female motorcyclist (only licensed drivers). "Regular" people, in present-day attire.
  • Cars and trucks dating pre-1993.

Lee said in a press release "If you really want to get picked come 'dressed the part, wardrobe and hair stylists will be on location looking everybody over to select the best choices for each scene."

 

The shoot's expected to last seven weeks and will include Actors like Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley.
