Southern Art in Bloom

Ogden Hosts First Annual Magnolia Ball

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art will be blooming once again Friday, June 20, as the institution hosts its first Magnolia Ball. Taking place in the Museum’s own Stephen Goldring Hall, the event will feature vibrant live music, delicious cuisine, craft cocktails, a silent auction, and wonderful company.

"The Magnolia Ball is organized to highlight the Center for Southern Craft and Design at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art which showcases the work of Southern craft and design artists,” says William Andrews, director of the Ogden.

The night's musical entertainment will feature the infectious summer rhythms of Tank & The Bangas. Guests will savor dishes by local favorites including Bayona, Broussard’s, Delachaise, Kingfish, Marcello’s, and Southern Hospitality Catering. The bar will offer craft cocktails concocted by Infirmiry, NYC.

Guests are encouraged to wear summer cocktail attire.

“The event is providential in that Southern craft and design is enjoying a prominent position in the design world. We celebrate the opportunity by honoring the artist Mignon Faget, whose own work is strongly identified with New Orleans architecture and Southern culture,” says Andrews.

The silent auction will feature many well-loved Southern craftsmen and their crafts. Many of the artists have had works on display at the Ogden; now, museum supporters can bring some of these pieces home to their own collections. Guests will be able to bid on unique pieces of furniture, clothing, jewelry, and other accessories as well as other arts and crafts.

A party for the museum's Patrons will begin at 7 p.m. General admission commences at 8 p.m., along with the silent auction. There will be an after party at Fulton Alley and shuttle services will be provided.

Table sales close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday (June 18th) and online ticket sales close at 8 p.m. on Thursday (June 19th). There will be additional tickets on sale at the event.

The Chairs of the event are Anna Beth Goodman and Katy Weil. The Junior Chairs are Artemis Antippas, Megan Kendrick, Catlin McClelland, and Lindsey Rousseil.

Correction: This article originally that the Magnolia Ball will be held on Saturday. The event will actually be held on Friday, June 20.
