Drive-By Shooting on Frenchmen Street


NOPD responded to a shooting on the nightlife-heavy stretch of Frenchmen St. early Wednesday morning. According to initial information, the shooting happened after 1 a.m. near the corner of Frenchmen and Decatur Sts. 

 

A 22-year-old man was standing in the block, when a vehicle drove up. Someone insde the car opened fire, and the man was shot to the abdomen and arm, police said. The car then drove off.

 

After being shot, witnesses said the man ran toward Royal St. before collapsing near Bamboula's (514 Frenchmen St.). EMS then arrived to provide medical treatment.

 

Update 4 p.m.: The Advocate reports the shooting victim died at the hospital following the incident. He was identified as Julius Dunn.
