Satsuma Cafe Expanding Uptown

One of the Bywater's favorite hangouts is hoping to rekindle the magic Uptown. Satsuma Cafe is bringing their coffee shop meets farm fresh vibe just south of Carrollton, with plans to open a second location this summer, according to a note they blasted today.

Located at Maple and Fern Streets, the new spot will serve as an alternative to that omnipresent-everywhere-else-but-here Starbucks, as well as another breakfast-lunch-coffee option in the Maple St. corridor. Current plans call for the new shop to open in August.

The announcement comes on the heels of another Satsuma announcement that the spot is putting a halt to its dinner service at the downtown location. The final dinner service in that downtown location will be May 12.

"It's been an amazing experience but our little space just isn't equipped to handle being open for 15 hours a day," the Cafe reported.

Please, Satsuma, just

Please, Satsuma, just whatever U do, don't stop serving croissants made at Boulangerie! I have only had a good croissant in NOLA at Boulangerie and your place, lo and behold, because U serve their croissants. I used to live here in the 90s and just moved back, and really miss the olde La Madeleine on Jackson Sq. be4 they got bought-out, moved to the Riverbend, and started serving Croissants that taste like cardboard. Anyhow, good luck uptown, and will see U in the Bywater again be4 long, for your slightly overpriced but awesome food and ambience and nice peeps. xo
