Restaurants Open on Christmas

If you burn the bird this Christmas, there are much better options than Chinese Turkey at Bo’ Ling Chop Suey Palace. Several restaurants in the New Orleans area are open up on the big holiday and will be offering up all the traditional meals without all the dishes to was.

Borgne Restaurant (601 Loyola Avenue)

The seafood restaurant created by Chef John Besh and Brian Landry is a mix of causal and high end. The joint is offering a four course menu featuring Duck Poppers, Oysters Avondale, Madeira Braised Lamb Shank, and Apple Upside Down Cake. Prices vary. (11a.m. to 9p.m.)

SoBou (310 Chartres Street)

Commander’s Palace’s laid back sister will be open Christmas Day. Menu highlights include Roof Juke Joint IPA & Sharp White Cheddar Soup with Bacon Fat Whipped Black Garlic & Caramelized Onion Cracklin’, Sous-Vide Octopus en Escabeche with Ghost Pepper Caviar, Pickled Beets & Satsuma Granita, Pollo Borracho, Satsuma & Guava Mantecaditos, and Coquito (Puerto Rican-Style Eggnog).

Restaurant R’evolution (777 Bienville Street)

John Folse’s high end French Quarter outpost will be open for Christmas Day. The menu will be the same mix of creative takes on pasta, fish, game, caviar, and local cuisine offered every day.

Domenica (123 Baronne St, New Orleans)

The swanky Besh downtown spot will be offering up a special Christmas meal along with some longtime favorites like pizza. The restaurants offshoot Pizza Domenica will also be open at (4933 Magazine St, New Orleans). (Both will be open from 11a.m. to 11p.m.)

Tujague’s (823 Decatur St, New Orleans)

NOLA’s second oldest restaurant will be keeping its doors open on Christmas day with a four course menu featuring Shrimp Remoulade, Sweet Potato and Crab Bisque, and Grilled Airline Chicken. It will be $54.99 for adults and $19.99 for children. (11a.m. to 9:30p.m.)

Richard Fiske’s Martini Bar & Restaurant (301 Dauphine St, New Orleans)

After its amicable split from The Bombay Club, Richard Fiske’s took all of its many accolades it had earned at The Bombay Club around the corner to Chateau LeMoyne Hotel. The four course Reveillon Menu features Smoked Chicken & Roasted Corn Chowder, Blackened Gulf Fish with Jambalaya Risotto & Sauce Béarnaise, Chicken Saltimbocca, Praline Crème Brûlée as well as Eggnog Noel. Buca Di Beppo (Oakwood Center, 197 Westbank Expressway, Gretna)

The chain Italian restaurant is served family style and is a casual way to spend your Christmas Day. It is open for dine in or take out. (11a.m. to 9p.m.)
