Pre-Super Bowl Street Repairs Start Monday in French Quarter

By the end of the year, it won't be as easy to blame the bumps in the street for any stumbling in the French Quarter. On Monday, street repairs will begin on ten stretches of French Quarter roadways. Scheduled just in time for Super Bowl XLVII, officials said these fixes will be the largest improvement to Vieux Carre roads since the run-up to the 1984 World's Fair. Construction will wrap up by the end of the year, officials said.

The repairs will include resurfacing jobs, repairing curbs and installing accessibility ramps. When they're done with repairs to corners, workers will replace the iconic blue and white street name tiles. The total cost of the repairs, which are being undertaken by Plus Concrete, Inc., is $11.3 million.

Here's the full list of sections that will be repaired:

  • Burgundy St. (Canal St. - Esplanade Ave.)

  • Dauphine St. (Canal St. - Esplanade Ave.)
