Faux/Real's Lit Lineup



The book fair was rained out this wekend, but there are still plenty of oportunities to listen to some readings. Faux/Real Festival of the Arts is offering lots of local writers reading at the Cafe Faux/Real (940 Elysian Fields Avenue) and United Bakery Gallery. 

 
 

On November 10th at Cafe Faux/Rea, Candace Robertson will read the chaper "Rain" from her forthcoming novel.

 

Peauxdunque Writers Alliance will read at Cafe Faux/Real at 6:30pm and at 8:00pm on November 11th. The group, founded by Amy Serrano in 2007, is comprised of poets, fiction and non-fiction writers, children's and young adult writers, songwriters, filmmakers, and visual artists. Their works have been published in Arcadia, Cicada, Missouri Review, Writing Tomorrow, and many others. 

 

On November 12th at Cafe Faux/Real, Warren Perrin will read from his latest book, A People's History of Accadie. Perrin's advocacy for Cajun rights and culture has propelled a career that includes six books.

 

Capricho de Vellas will read at Cafe Faux/Real on November 16th at 6:30pm. Capricho lives in New Orleans and is the author of We Have You Right Where You Want Us. 

 

On November 17th, Cafe Faux/Real will host Andy Young, Michael Patrick Welch, and Michael Allen Zell. Poet Young is the author of All Night It Is Morning and  Welch is a New Orleans writer and creator of New Orleans: the Underground Guide as well as several novels. Zell's most recent novel, Run Baby Run is a detective story set in New Orleans.

 

Anya Groner will read at Cafe Faux/Real on November 18th at 6:30pm. Groner writes essays, stories, and poems, bosting contributions to The Oxford American and The Atlantic.  

 

On November 19th, New Orleans writer Jose Torres Tama will read at Cafe Faux/Real. JTT has toured his literary performance events throughout North America and Europe pushing for immigrant rights. 

 

On November 20th and 21st at Cafe Faux/Real, Patricia Lamkin will read "Fish Tales of the Milky Way". Lamkin is the author of eleven plays and is a member of the Dramatist Guild and the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights. 

 

John Kerzinski's book release for In Bloom will be held at United Bakery Gallery on November 13th at 7pm. November 14th at 7pm, United Bakery Gallery will host the book release of Michael Martin's The Bearer Monologues. November 15th at 7pm at United Bakery Gallery, Jessica Radcliffe will release her book Delicate Strange.
