Overnight Crime Report: Unclassified Death, Muggings, Car-jacking


On Tuesday (11.15), the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) responded to one sexual assault, one unclassified death, a carjacking turned shooting, a mass mugging, and a French Quarter pickpocket according to the Major Offense Log (MOL).

 
Detectives reported that a 38-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown male at 5:37a.m. on the 700 block S. Rocheblave St.

 

At 12:32p.m., police responded to a wellness check on the 2700 block of Dryades St. The Department said that upon arrival, officers found a 54-year-old man dead from unknown causes.

 

According to the MOL, two armed men approached a group of eight people around 8:33p.m. on the 14000 block Dwyer Blvd. Authorities stated that the perps rifled through their victims’ pockets taking “cellphones and other personal items.” The victims were listed as a 31-year-old-man, a 28-year-old-woman, a 25-year-old man, a 27-year-old man, two 36-year-old men, and two 36-year-old men.

 

At 12:15a.m., a woman was approached by a gunman after exiting her car on the 6800 block Parc Brittany Blvd. stated the NOPD. Detectives reported that the driver was forced to turn over her keys and then shot once before the gunman and three unknown males drove off in her car. The injury is not life threatening.

 

On Bourbon St., a 26-year-old man was allegedly pickpocketed around 2:17a.m. Police said that the perp grabbed the man’s wallet face-to-face, and and then the victim fell over while the suspect ran off.
