Overnight Crime Report: Unclassified Death, Cuttings, Armed Robbery, Beating

After a very violent weekend, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) only handled four crimes on Sunday (6.05) according to the Major Offense Log (MOL). The roster of wrongdoing included one unclassified death, a stabbing, an armed robbery, and a beating.

At 7:38p.m., EMT’s were called to the 4900 block of Eunice Drive after a 57-year-old man woke up with difficulty breathing according to the NOPD. The paramedics ultimately pronounced the man dead on the scene from unknown causes.

On the 2000 block of Earhart Boulevard, 57-year-old Marvell Hilton was arrested and booked with Aggravated Battery (Cutting) around 11:35a.m. Hilton allegedly walked up to a 56-year-old man and began stabbing him. Police said that the victim ran away, called 911 from a corner store, and then got a ride to the hospital.

Authorities reported that an unknown man hid in the Family Dollar store on the 3600 block of South Carrollton Avenue until closing. Then, a little after 10p.m., the perp confronted the staff with a gun, stole the business’ cash, and ran out the back door stated the MOL.

A suspect known as “Cali” is accused of pistol-whipping a 44-year-old woman on the 14200 block of Chef Menteur Highway around 11:00p.m. A Department spokesperson explained that Cali tis to mug the victim, but when she discovered that there was no money to be had, she beat the woman and took her purse instead.
