Overnight Crime Report: Two Unclassified Deaths, Two Rapes, Two Armed Robberies, Attempted Robbery, Homicide, Carjacking


The New Orleans Police Department saw nine crimes hit the city on Wednesday (8.9). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to an attempted armed robbery, two unclassified deaths, homicide, two rapes, carjacking, two armed robberies. 

 

70-year-old Lewis Woods was arrested following an attempted armed robbery at Fais Deaux Deaux on the 400 block of Bourbon St. At 1:29PM, Woods walked in and, implying he was armed, ordered the employee to give him cash from the register. The employee told Woods that the police were on their way, at which time he allegedly fled up Bourbon St. towards Canal St. 

 

At 5:28PM, a 37-year-old man was found unresponsive by a female acquaintance on the 2200 block of Dauphine St. He was pronounced on scene by EMS. 

 

At 6:47PM, witnesses heard gunshots fired near the 800 block of LeBoeuf St. NOPD units found an unknown man face up in the middle of LeBoeuf, at which time he was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. 

 

At 8:21PM, an unknown juvenile was sexually assaulted on the 2400 block of St. Bernard Ave. 

 

A 54-year-old man was approached by two unknown men on the 2400 block of Lafitte St. at 8:49PM. One of the men pulled out a gun, and demanded his keys. The duo fled in the victim;s tan 2004 Infiniti FX-35 (#684 AHN). 

 

According to witnesses, a 62-year-old man walked to the top of a flight of stairs in a residence on the 4100 block of Old Gentilly Rd. at 10:50PM and passed out. NOPD officers arrived to find EM performing CPR on the man, to no avail. He was pronounced dead on scene. 

 

At the intersection of Port St. and N. Villere St., a 40-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were walking at 11:34PM when two unknown men approached from behind. One of the subjects was armed with a gun, and together they demanded money. They woman dropped her keys and the man gave his wallet. The perps fled on foot down Port toward St. Claude Ave. 

 

At 12:24AM, a known juvenile male was sexually assaulted by an adult female on the 13000 block of N. Nemours St. 

 

According to the MOL, a woman who was a “previous guest” entered a location on the 3900 block of Tulane Ave. at 5:56AM. She put a gun on the counter and demanded a 59-year-old man hand over the money. The victim told her that he could identify her and that there were cameras on scene, at which time the woman demanded money again. The man complied and she fled in a black SUV on Tulane toward the river.
