Overnight Crime Report: Three Stabbings, Two Simple Robberies, Carjacking, Two Unclassified Deaths


The New Orleans Police Department saw eight crimes hit the city on Wednesday (7.5). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to three stabbings, two simple robberies, a carjacking, and two unclassified deaths. 

 

At 9:54AM, a 58-year-old homeless man was found unresponsive at the intersection of Oretha Castle Haley and Calliope St. EMS pronounced him dead on scene. 

 

At around 9PM on the Fourth of July, a 25-year-old man blacked out on the first block of Canal Street. He woke up at 3:43PM the day after inside of his residence, and discovered a stab wound to his arm. 

 

At the intersection of Canal St. and Bourbon St., a 20-year-old woman was approached by two known females at 3:53PM. A fight ensued and the woman dropped her purse. One of the subjects rifled through her purse, stealing several items and fled. 

 

A 50-year-old man was on an elevator inside of a building on the 10000 block of Lake Forest Blvd. At around 4:32PM, the elevator got stuck between the third and fourth floors. When the man tried to open the doors to get out, he fell to his death. 

 

At 5:55PM, a 52-year-old man was approached by an unknown subject at the intersection of Gov. Nicholls and Chartres. The subject pushed the man from the back of the head, causing the man to fall into a wall and become unconscious. The subject then searched through the victim’s pockets. A witness approached, startling the perp and causing him to flee.

 

A 57-year-old woman was approached by an armed man on the 6200 block of LaSalle St. At 2:05AM, the man ordered her out of her car and told her to leave her purse. The woman complied, and the subject fled in her white 2006 Kia Sorento (License # YJP500). 

 

A 36-year-old man was sitting in his car at the intersection of Burgundy and Toulouse when an ex-boyfriend approached at around 2:41AM. An argument ensued, and the man’s ex began hitting the car windows and doors before opening the door and swinging a knife at the victim. The man sustained a cut wound and went to the hospital for treatment. 

 

25-year-old Irina Black was arrested following an incident of aggravated battery on the 200 block of Royal St. At 5:04AM, Black got into a fight with a 30-year-old man. At some point, Black struck the man with a glass, cutting him. The man refused medical treatment.
