Overnight Crime Report: Three Simple Robberies, Two Rapes, Two Armed Robberies, Attempted Armed Robbery, Stabbing


The New Orleans Police Department saw nin crimes hit the city on Wednesday (8.23). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to three simple robberies, two rapes, two armed robberies, attempted armed robbery, and a stabbing. 

 

18-year-old Anthony Hood was arrested following a simple robbery on the 8500 block of Jeanette St. At 9:29AM, Hood met with a 38-year-old woman to purchase a phone from her. At some point, Hood allegedly pushed her down and grabbed her belongings. 

 

At 11:36AM, a 36-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a known male on the 5100 block of Revel St. 

 

A 52-year-old man was walking on Calliope St. near St. Charles Ave. when a man approached him at 12:59PM. The subject said that the man apparently owed him money, at which time a struggled occurred. During the altercation, the man dropped his wallet and the subject picked it up before fleeing in an unknown direction. 

 

At 2:32PM, a known female was sexually assaulted by a known male on the 700 block of Loyola Ave. 

 

At 7:31PM, an unknown man pulled up to the drive-thru window of a Rally’s Hamburgers on the 1600 block of Louisiana Ave. He pulled out a black revolver and demanded a 45-year-old female employee and her 17-year-old male coworker hand over money. Both of them ran from the window and the perp then drove off in his grey Toyota Camry. 

 

An armed man entered a Subway on the 6200 block of S. Claiborne Ave. at 8:15PM and demanded money from a 23-year-old female employee. She fled through the black door, and another employee — who was in the back of the store — heard the perp open the register and flee the scene. 

 

At the intersection of Esplanade and N. Miro St., a 31-year-old woman was walking at 9:26PM when she noticed three men following about “five blocks” behind her. When she went into a store in an attempt to lose the group of men, one of the subjects came up to her and struck her in the face before stealing her purse. 

 

At 9:46PM, a 29-year-old woman was at the intersection of Louisa St. and St. Claude Ave. when she was pushed from behind by an unknown woman. The victim turned around and observed the subject flee eastbound on St. Claude Ave., at which time she realized that she had suffered a stab wound. She was brought to a local hospital for treatment, and is listed in stable condition. 

 

At the intersection of Camp St. and Calliope St., a 46-year-old man and his wife were walking at 11:36PM when a group of unknown subjects surrounded them. The subjects then physically assaulted him before stealing his cell phone and wallet.
